USA, — With the votes trickling in as the hours pass, many Americans are wondering when the next president of the United States will be sworn into office.
Inauguration Day happens once every four years on Jan. 20, or Jan. 21 if Jan. 20 falls on a Sunday.
The ceremony takes place at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC.
This ceremony is no different. The next president will be inaugurated on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.
First, the vice president will be sworn in with the oath of office used for senators, representatives, and other federal employees.
Then, around noon, the president-elect is sworn in and will recite the presidential oath of office:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Next, you can expect an inaugural address from the newly sworn-in president.
After that, the President and Vice President will participate in the pass in review. This is when they will make their way to the East Front steps of the Capitol and review the military troops before leading a procession down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.
