What time do polls open in North Carolina on Election Day?

What to know before you head to cast your ballot.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Well, we're almost there folks.

Early voting officially ended Saturday in North Carolina, and now the final chance to cast your ballot in the 2024 election is to show up on Election Day — Tuesday, November 5 — and vote in person.

According to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, polling places will be open at 6:30 a.m. Polls will remain open until 7:30 p.m. and and voter in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

To avoid long lines, experts recommend going to the polls in the early morning or right before they close, as those tend to be the busiest times.

Unlike early voting, voting on election day must be done at your assigned polling place. You can look up your assigned polling place on the Board of Election's website here.
