Here's when polls close in North Carolina, and other top questions voters have

Here are some top questions voters are searching for on Super Tuesday.

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — It's Super Tuesday in North Carolina. We've got you covered on all the major races in our state and across the nation. Here are some top questions voters are searching for.

1. What time do polls close in North Carolina?

Polls close at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time in North Carolina. Voters must go to their assigned polling location on Election Day. These locations are different from the early voting sites. Any voter who is in line at their assigned polling place by 7:30 p.m. will be able to vote. Results will be posted here.

2. What states vote today?

Fifteen states and one U.S. territory have primary elections on Super Tuesday. (Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, American Samoa)

3. Who are we voting for today?

Registered voters can head to the polls to cast their ballots for primary elections within their affiliated parties. If a non-affiliated voter heads to the polls, they must choose between a Republican or a Democratic ballot. The primary election narrows down the candidates for the general election in November.

4. Who can vote today?

As long as you're registered to vote, you can go to the polls. However, voters may not register on Election Day in North Carolina.

5. Who is running against Biden?

President Biden is seeking reelection in 2024 and has no considerable contenders in the primary election. After Super Tuesday, we will have an idea of whether he will face former President Donald Trump or former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in November.

6. Why is it called Super Tuesday?

It's when the largest number of states hold presidential primaries or caucuses. Over a third of all the available delegates for the Republican and Democratic nominations are at stake.

7. What is a ballot referendum?

A referendum on a ballot is any question, issue, or act referred to a vote of the people by the General Assembly, local government, or petition from voters as authorized by law. A referendum includes constitutional amendments and bond issues.
