GREENSBORO, N.C. — The race for the White House is certainly taking shape as both Harris and Trump are on the campaign trail this week.
Later today, Trump is hosting a rally in Charlotte, NC. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris is pushing forward in her attempts to secure the Democratic nomination.
Yesterday she campaigned in Wisconsin and tomorrow she plans to speak at an event in Texas.
Both the Republican and Democratic party will be appealing to voters on different topics.
We spoke with a UNCG Political Science professor, Dr. Thom Little. They say Republicans will now have to switch their message. It's no longer about Biden or his age.
"So what they have got to is sort of regroup. You won't see a Republican Harris speech before the election that doesn't mention immigration and given that she was given the task to handle immigration by President Biden that now has moved even further up the list," said Dr. Little.
Little says another topic Republicans could go after Harris with is inflation.
Meantime for the Democrats, Little says the party certainly had a win with Biden's decision to drop out of the election.
"The campaign under Biden was primarily going to be about Trump and it still will be but now it's going to be much about next generation and it's time to move pass the World II generation. She can make the case that this is a new generation of leadership," said Little.
We recently spoke with governor cooper about the possibility of him being picked as Harris' Vice President.
"She has to stop Trump. And I want her to get the very best person she can get as Vice President. That being said, I respect her process and I'm not going to comment on it any further than that," said Governor Cooper.
