Tim Moore wins newly created U.S. House District 14

The district was newly created ahead of the 2024 race.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tim Moore, the current speaker of the North Carolina House, is the projected winner for a newly created U.S. House district. The Republican won the race with 58% of the vote against Democratic opponent Pam Genant, the Associated Press says. 

The 2024 race for the newly created North Carolina U.S. District 14 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives saw two candidates vying for it. Moore serves in the North Carolina General Assembly, while Genant served in the U.S. Army.

Tim Moore is the Republican candidate. He currently serves in the state House in Raleigh as both the representative for the 111th district and as the Speaker of the House. He has served since assuming office in 2003 and been Speaker since 2015. Prior to his time in office, he was a lawyer in the Cleveland County area.

Pam Genant is the Democratic candidate in the race. She lives in Burke County, is a small business owner and is a registered nurse. Before that, Genant served in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm. She also advocates for suicide prevention.
