CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- If you're making a trip to Charlotte for the Panthers game Sunday expect to see more security. The city declared it an extraordinary event again.
The game is expected to start Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bank of America Stadium in uptown Charlotte. The City Manager told WBTV the event is intended to enhance public safety. City officials decided Sunday's game meets the criteria. An extraordinary event is considered a large scale event or an event of national or international significance which might attract a significant number of people to a certain geographic area of the city.
This is the third time the city of Charlotte declared an event as extraordinary recently. Previously the declared a Panthers game and the ACC Championship game extra ordinary.
