Pleasant Garden, N.C. -- Three months ago, we lost a man who dedicated his life to serve the people-- Former Congressman Howard Coble. Now, a local business is keeping his legacy alive.
A new center for Special needs children in Pleasant Garden is named the Howard Coble Center. The center's chairman, Michael Jackson said the late Congressman wasn't involved with the program, but it was fitting to name it after him.
"We decided it would be a good tribute to him because he was a people person," Michael Jackson said. "[He] did a lot of good things for a lot of people. This program is all about serving the needs of our kids with special needs so we found that was the fitting thing to do."
The center focuses on activities for kids with special needs. The chairman said it's the only one of its kind in the state. The center focuses on activities for the kids over educational activities. The best part, it's free. All of the money comes from donors.
