Second Earthquake Shakes East Tennessee Thursday

KINGSTON, TN -- It happened again -- and then again!

A day after an earthquake rocked East Tennessee and part of Georgia, two more quakes were recorded Thursday.

A small 1.5-magnitude quake was recorded in Kingston. The USGS map showed it happened around 10:20 a.m. and showed a 17.6-kilometer depth.

Then, around 1:46 p.m. Thursday, USGS recorded another one in Blaine, Tennessee. It was a 2.7-magnitude earthquake and had a depth of 4.8 kilometers.

There have been multiple earthquakes across the area in recent weeks.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake was felt across East Tennessee and into parts of Georgia and North Carolina on Wednesday morning, the United States Geological Survey said, followed by a 3.3 magnitude earthquake and two other aftershocks.
