And, of course, there was plenty of fin power.

Last week, Mary Kay national sales director Crisette Ellis put out a call for employees of the cosmetics firm and anyone else who owned a pink Cadillac to turn out for Aretha Franklin's funeral.

Franklin sang about pink Cadillacs in her 80s hit, "Freeway of Love" that quickly became an anthem in the Motor City, her hometown.

"We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love in my pink Cadillac," she sang.

Caddy owners answered the call.

Ron Mitchell, 72, of Taylor and his son, Derrick, 46, brought their pink '56 Coupe de Ville.

Ron Mitchell said he bought the car in Phoenix about 15 years ago but later discovered it was built in Michigan and sold to the Phoenix owner.

“We’re just honored ourselves to be apart of it, especially with all of the notoriety it’s bringing to Detroit,” said Ron Mitchell, who had a special "Aretha" badge added to the car for the occasion.

“Aretha Franklin is a Queen," he said.

Most of the cars that turned out Friday are owned by Mary Kay representatives like Ann Sherman, who drove her pink 2018 XT5 crossover to Detroit for the service, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Pink was a recurring theme for Franklin's funeral.

Her thousands of pink roses surrounded her casket.

And at her final public viewing, at New Bethel Baptist Church, Aretha Franklin was dressed in a rose gold custom knit suit with pink beaded lace. She also wore a specially made pink South Seas pearl necklace and earring and rose gold sequin Christian Louboutin heels.

Cadillac took out a pink, full-page ad in the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News to that summed it up with its logo and a word: r-e-s-p-e-c-t.
