Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg scratched from start because of illness

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday night against the Atlanta Braves because of illness.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday night against the Atlanta Braves because of illness.

Right-hander Tanner Roark was moved up a day to take the start, and manager Dusty Baker said Strasburg might pitch Thursday in the series finale.

"He was really sick yesterday," Baker said. "He says he feels better today than he did yesterday."

In his first start of the season, Strasburg (1-0) beat the winless Braves in Atlanta, allowing one run over six innings.

Baker said Roark, who'll be pitching on five days of rest, was notified Tuesday he was likely to take Strasburg's place. Roark endured an 85-minute rain delay in his first outing, giving up four runs and nine hits over four innings in a loss to Miami.
