BALDWIN, Kan. – The Small College Basketball Hall of Fame will soon add a Guilford College Quaker to its history books.
Today, the Hall of Fame announced Guilford College alumnus M.L. Carr ('73) will join the newest class of inductees.
Carr was a key member of Guilford's 1973 NAIA national championship team and scored 1,993 points in his career with the Quakers. Carr went on from Guilford to won two world championships with the Boston Celtics.
He is also a member of the NAIA Hall of Fame and the Guilford Athletics Hall of Fame. Carr will be the first Guilford College player added to the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame.
Carr joins 11 other players in the Small College Hall of Fame's third class. Also in the group are John Barnhill (Tennessee A&I), Pat Douglass (Cal State Bakersfield), Philip Hutcheson (Lipscomb), Earl Jones (District of Columbia), Charles Oakley (Virginia Union), John Pierce (Lipscomb), Terry Porter (Wisconsin-Stevens Point), Leonard “Truck” Robinson (Tennessee State), Clarence Walker (Indiana State), Marvin Webster (Morgan State), and John Wooden (Coach).
Carr and the rest of this year's class will be inducted at a Nov. 2 ceremony in St. Joseph, MO.
