Mebane woman wins $1 million from scratch-off

MEBANE, N.C. — Trenon Holman of Mebane tried her luck with a $50 scratch-off ticket from a Quick Mart and won big.

The NC Education Lottery just announced Holman is the winner of their $1 million prize. 

When collecting her winnings, she was given to choice tor receive the $1 million in annual payments of $50,000 across 20 years, or she could be given a lump sum of $600,000. 

She chose the lump sum and took home $429,014 after state and federal taxes.

The $10 Million Spectacular game debuted in December with five of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000.

Three $10 million prizes, nine $1 million prizes and nine $100,000 prizes are yet to be claimed.
