ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Someone is rolling in dough after winning $1 million in the Powerball drawing Monday night.
The ticket was sold at a convenience store in Pasquotank County.
The winner bought a $2 ticket at the Zoom In on South Hughes Boulevard in Elizabeth City. They matched the numbers on all five white balls, winning the million-dollar prize.
The drawing on Monday awarded six $1 million prizes nationally. The winner of North Carolina's lottery has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. The chance to match all five white balls is 1 in 11.6 million.
Wednesday's Powerball drawing offers a jackpot of $1.09 billion or $527.3 million in cash. If won, it will be the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history. The odds of winning are 1 in 292 million.
Players in North Carolina can purchase Powerball tickets at retail locations, online through the lottery’s website, or by using the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
