GREENSBORO, N.C. — Three Greensboro friends are thousands of dollars richer after they purchased a lottery ticket together.
“We all looked at one another thinking, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’" Mark Cockman said.
Cockman, Jeffrey Jaeger, and Gary Selders met each other years ago at Greensboro Elks Lodge on West Cornwallis Drive, where they are all members-now they continue to play the lottery together.
The Greensboro Elks Lodge is also where the three bought the winning $5 20X The Cash ticket-- winning the $158,535 jackpot.
“We each put a little bit in,” Jaeger said.
“I don’t think any of us believed it when we won.”
They each claimed their prize on Thursday.
Cockman and Selders each claimed $52,317 and after taxes took home $37,407.
Jaeger claimed $53,902 and after taxes took home $38,540.
They plan to pay bills with their winnings.
