GREENSBORO, NC -- Friday, people around the city of Greensboro might see smoke on the streets and in their houses.
Don't worry, this is all part of a sewer line smoke test throughout the city for the next 1-2 weeks. The purpose of the test is to find any open breaks in the sewer line.
During the tests a non-toxic smoke will be put into a manhole that will flow to the sewer lines. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, has a slight odor, will be white to gray in color, but creates no fire hazard.
If you are in any of the areas being tested, the city of Greensboro suggests that you pour a gallon of water into every sink, tub, and floor drain that is not used on a daily basis.
Also be on the lookout for some minor traffic delays in the tested areas as well.
If you have any questions and want to contact the city you can call their contact center at 336-373-2489(CITY).
