GREENSBORO, N.C. — Just because you aren't collecting a federal check, doesn't mean you aren't affected by the Federal Government shutdown.
The impacts are all around.
Take for instance your kids' school lunch. The USDA says lunch programs should have funding through the end of March but one district in North Carolina is already cutting back on fresh produce, bottled water, and juice just to be safe.
Plus, it isn't just your kids' lunch.
With the Food and Drug administration not doing routine inspections because of the shutdown, things like your morning cereal also aren't being checked for safety and contaminants.
After Dinner you probably want a nice cold beer, right?
Well some craft breweries are waiting to roll out new beers because they have to get labels approved by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to sell the beer across state lines.
You guessed it. That Federal agency also isn't open right now.
Just a few reasons why you should care about the shutdown, government paycheck or not.
