Woman found guilty of Greensboro Cook-Out parking lot hit-and-run

The 2022 crash left an 18-year-old with several broken bones.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A jury convicted a woman for hitting a Greensboro teenager with her car in a Cook-Out parking lot and taking off.

Patricia Hilton appeared in Guilford Superior Court on Friday and was found guilty of felony hit-and-run and reckless driving in the 2022 incident.

She was given a suspended sentence and placed on probation. She must take driving classes, attend anger management, and can't drive until licensed to do so by the DMV. If she violates her probation, she could face jail time.

The incident happened in October 2022 at the Cook-Out restaurant in the Westridge Square shopping center on Battleground Avenue.

Tommy Durham, 18 years old at the time, said he was crossing a driveway in the parking lot when a car hit him going 45 mph. He suffered a broken arm and a broken leg.

Durham and other witnesses said the driver, later identified as Hilton, circled the parking lot several times before hitting him.

WFMY News 2 spoke to Hilton two years ago when the crash happened. She said she was sorry for what happened and declined to share any details about what led up to the crash.
