MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — Mount Airy police are investigating an assault involving a disabled child. Police said the assault occurred Friday at Tharrington Primary School.
Police said Laurie Elizabeth Chilton turned herself in at the Mount Airy Police Department and was served a warrant for arrest for assault on an individual with a disability.
Chilton was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond and will appear in court on Oct. 25.
