KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A deadly crash involving a Winston-Salem woman shut down part of a highway in Kannapolis on Friday morning.

According to our Charlotte sister station, WCNC, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the accident happened when the driver, 27-year-old Arlexia Taylor of Winston Salem, stopped her 2014 Kia Optima on the side of the road.

When she got out of the car she was hit by a 2017 Chevrolet truck. Taylor died at the scene.

Troopers said no charges have been announced and alcohol was not a contributing factor to the accident. The driver, a 54-year-old Yadkinville man, was treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
