WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — UPDATE: All traffic signals are operational and power has been restored.
At least 1,600 households are without power in Winston-Salem, according to Duke Energy.
The power outage is affecting the areas in and around University Parkway, Silas Creek Parkway, Northpoint Boulevard and Reynolda Road.
The Winston-Salem Police Department warned that the outage is causing traffic lights to be out at several major intersections.
If the traffic lights are out at an intersection, police encourage drivers to treat it as a four-way stop. Be sure to come to a complete stop at the intersection and proceed with caution only when it is clear.
According to police, it could be several hours before power is restored.
Seek an alternate route if possible and use GPS safely.
