Man accused of murder arrested after fleeing to Virginia, police say

He is awaiting extradition.

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. — A man was arrested for a Winston-Salem murder after fleeing to Patrick County, VA on April 22, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

On April 5, Rodney Dwight Adams, Jr., 27, was found lying on the sidewalk of Salem Lake Park. He had severe head injuries and later died as a result.

On April 22, the Patrick County Sheriff's Office arrested Jerry Christopher Howard, 40, on a robbery warrant.

Howard is awaiting extradition from Patrick County to Winston-Salem, according to police.

Winston-Salem police charged Howard with felony General Murder. Howard was also served an unrelated robbery charge by Patrick County deputies.
