WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem police officer was injured in a crash with a civilian while en route to an emergency around noon on Tuesday, June 25, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD).

WSPD said officers were on their way to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated on the patrol cars.

Police said the patrol car had cleared the intersection at Silas Creek Parkway and Peters Creek Parkway. The citizen vehicle was entering the intersection when it collided with the patrol car, according to officers.

The crash caused the patrol car to roll over.

Both drivers were taken to local hospitals for minor injuries.

Police said they will not be filing charges as a result of the incident due to a viewing obstruction created by a line of cars blocking the views of both drivers involved.
