Hendersonville, NC -- A woman charged in the death and dismemberment of her husband has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. By accepting a plea, Gail Christine Hutchinson Gash faces a maximum of 40 years in prison instead of a possible life sentence. She was accused in the death of Etowah-Horse Shoe Fire Department Chief Donald Larry Gash in March 2004. One family member expecting to witness the start of the trial says there's no way that Gail Gash could have committed the crime alone and that she's taking all the blame on herself. The victim's body parts were found in a plastic tub at his home and some of his limbs were found strewn along the Blue Ridge Parkway about 20 miles away. When police discovered the body, Gail Gash had been missing for four days and law enforcement officers feared she had been harmed as well. Later that March, Gail Gash was found wrapped in a sheet in a crawl space of a storage shed at a home across the road from her home.
