GREENSBORO, N.C. -- It's a tool that will help one boy on a quest to keep reading – a new iPad!
Xander Marsh earned the new iPad mini thanks to a Guilford County Schools reading challenge. The GCS Reads 20 Holiday Reading Challenge program asked students to read at least 300 minutes during winter break. Xander did more than that reading 357 minutes.
WFMY News 2's Lauren Melvin along with Dr. Sandra Alexander, Board of Education Member, presented the award to him in class. Xander was one of 7,466 to complete in the challenge. He said he enjoys, "Geronimo Stilton" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid."
WFMY News 2 continues to be a proud partner of the Read 2 Succeed program with Guilford County Schools to encourage children to read. The WFMY News 2's Good Morning Show team visits schools to get kids excited about reading.
