WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Crews are getting ready to start paving on Business 40 in Winston-Salem.
The work will take place between Hastings Hill Road and South Main Street, where a section of the future beltway around the city is expected to open later this year.
The first closure will be a lane on the eastbound side from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.
Remaining closures are scheduled as follows:
- An eastbound lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. This will allow the contractor to remove portable concrete barrier wall.
- An eastbound lane, from 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 until 5 a.m. the following morning, for pavement marking.
- An eastbound lane, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, to repair concrete slab.
- A westbound lane, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, for additional concrete slab repair.
Drivers who want to avoid this span of Business 40 while closures are in place are encouraged to use N.C. 66, Interstate 40 and U.S. 52 as alternative routes.
The work all depends on if the weather cooperates. It could be rescheduled depending on rainy conditions.
