WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest University police are investigating vandalism on campus.
The school said sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the sidewalks and a tree on campus were spray-painted. One incident included anti-Semitic language.
The school said it has also received reports of anti-Black, Islamophobic, and homophobic speech.
"We are living in volatile and difficult times, but we cannot and will not waver in our commitment to protect campus health and safety, to uphold University values and to continue to demonstrate caring for one another," WFU President Susan Wente said.
WFU's president said because of these incidents, chalking on University sidewalks is now suspended for the remainder of the academic year.
Campus police are encouraging anyone with information about the vandalism to call 336-758-5591 or use the Silent Witness reporting tool.
