WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem City Council discussed the city's cell phone tower regulations at their meeting Tuesday night.
Council members approved a wording change on the cell tower bill. The rewording helps protect the city's trees surrounding any new cell phone tower.
In February, the City Council adopted new regulations for transmission (cell phone) towers, despite opposition from many Winston-Salem residents who thought the towers were not attractive and could dilute property value.
The new regulations give the City Council power to conduct a permit process, public hearing and sworn testimony for each proposed cell phone tower.
