Everything you need to know about early voting in the Triad

You must have a photo ID ahead of voting at each location.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Super Tuesday is still weeks away, but early voting kicks off across the Triad Thursday. There are 17 sites in Guilford County alone.

People will be able to vote early starting Thursday. The locations will be open almost every day until March 2, three days before the election. If you can't make it out to one of the locations, an absentee ballot can still be requested.

What is an absentee ballot?

An absentee ballot allows a voter to vote before Election Day by mail or Dropbox.

Charlie Collicutt, Director of Guilford County Board of Elections explained the process of how to submit an absentee ballot.

"We are sending out absentee ballots and we are taking them in," Collicutt said. "Anybody in Guilford County can request a ballot."

Collicut stressed that the deadline to return your ballot this year has changed. It now has to be in their office by 7:30 on election night.

Since it is a Presidential election year, the State Board of Elections expects a strong turnout at the polls. That's why it is important to figure out now where you will vote when you vote, and how you can get a photo ID.

Who to vote for

Before heading to the polls, you need to know who to vote for.

Candidate lists are available on the State Board of Elections website. It will show the start of candidate filing periods and be updated daily during the filing period.

Collicutt emphasized that voters will not get info on candidates at the polls.
