GREENSBORO, N.C. — Amazon...here, there, everywhere...but in the Triad? In two locations?
VERIFY QUESTION
Good Morning Show viewer Judy Colley has heard all the Amazon buzz for a while. She asked:
Can you VERIFY for us if Amazon is coming to Kernersville or Colfax?
VERIFY SOURCE
- Guilford County Register of Deeds
- Planning Board For The Town of Kernersville
VERIFY PROCESS
In November, WFMY News 2 reported the Kernersville Planning board approved a plan to re-zone the property adjacent to FedEx on Old Greensboro Road.
The Register of Deeds confirmed it, with a deed dated from June 2018. It is for Amazon.com, LLC for a property at Old Greensboro Road and Bunker Hill Road in the town of Kernersville. News 2 confirmed it is a one-million-square-foot facility, but it is unclear how many jobs it will bring.
As for the second facility, the Register of Deeds said as of April 23, Amazon.com Services and Lars, LLC agreed on a lease at 7941 National Service Road, right off of I-40 near the PTI Airport exit.
It is in unincorporated Colfax, though the postal service address appears to be Greensboro. Amazon has not confirmed what type of facility the company will build here.
VERIFY CONCLUSION
Documents conclude it's true, Amazon is setting up shop in both Kernersville and Colfax, and they undoubtedly will bring jobs to the Triad area.
