Vacant house fire controlled, cause of flames being investigated, Winston-Salem crews say

Winston-Salem police said the house was vacant and there are no reported injuries.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A vacant house in Winston-Salem is on fire, causing a road closure nearby, according to Winston-Salem police. 

The 3400 block of Old Greensboro Road in between Byerly Road and Waterworks Road is closed to all traffic due to the house fire. The area is expected to be blocked off for several hours. 

Crews say the fire started at a vacant house and then spread to nearby woods. 

Fire crews are on the scene battling the fire. There are no injuries reported. There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time.

Drivers should find an alternate route.
