Untreated wastewater released in Mocksville, officials say

The town says an estimated 950,000 gallons of wastewater was released into a creek.

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — The Town of Mocksville announced today there has been a discharge of wastewater in their area. 

Officials said on Aug. 27 an estimated 950,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was released from the Bear Creek force main near 898 Junction Rd. 

The wastewater streamed into Bear Creek in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. Staff is working to repair the line break, according to a release.
