UNC Charlotte Shooting Victim Drew Pescaro Discharged From Hospital, Returns Home

Drew Pescaro posted on social media Sunday afternoon that he was able to go home, sharing a video of him with Eminem's "Without Me" playing in the background.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Drew Pescaro, one of the victims of the UNC Charlotte shooting, has officially been discharged after returning to the hospital last week. 

Pescaro had been released from Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center last Monday, but returned to a local hospital Wednesday, according to a social media post.

"Update: Following discharge on Monday afternoon from CMC Main in Charlotte, Drew has since been rehospitalized locally and his body is working hard to combat infection related to his injuries," his girlfriend tweeted from his account.

Pescaro posted on his Twitter and Instagram Sunday afternoon that he was able to go home, sharing a video of him with Eminem's "Without Me" in the background.

"I have been discharged and am officially home! Long road to recovery still awaits but I truly appreciate every amount of support that you all have provided for me," the caption reads. 

Pescaro also posted a video showing him reuniting with a dog named Lilly after 27 days.

On his social posts, he acknowledged that there is a long "road to recovery" ahead, but that the continued support for others was noticed and appreciated. 

UNC Charlotte asked everyone to keep Pescaro as well as the other victims, 20-year-old Rami Alramadhan, 20-year-old Sean DeHart, and 23-year-old Emily Houpt, in their thoughts as they continue to heal.

Two students were killed during the shooting in a classroom in the Kennedy building on April 30: 19-year-old Ellis Parlier and 21-year-old Riley Howell.
