Woman charged in head-on crash in Alamance County

Troopers said a woman crossed the center line and struck another woman head-on.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A woman is facing charges after a head-on crash in Alamance County Tuesday morning, troopers said.

State Highway Patrol said they responded to a crash on NC 49 near Race Track Road around 8 a.m.

Troopers said Sofia Guerrero, 30, was driving south on NC 49 in a 2012 Jeep SUV and Natalie Kelley, 18, was driving north on NC 49 in a 2016 Kia SUV.

Guerrero then crossed the center line and struck Kelley head-on, according to troopers.

Guerrero suffered minor injuries and was taken to Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington.

Kelley suffered serious injuries and was extricated from her car and airlifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

There is no update on their current condition.

Troopers charged Guerrero with driving left of center and driving while license revoked.

NC 49 was closed around an hour during the investigation.

Troopers cleared the scene around 9 a.m.
