Investigators look for man who hit another man with his truck Tuesday

Troopers said the incident happened in Wallburg on Highway 109.

WALLBURG, N.C. — State Highway Patrol responded to an assault with a vehicle in Wallburg.

Troopers said the incident happened Tuesday in front of the Wallburg Towne Centre on Highway 109 near the intersection of Gumtree Road, and witnesses showed them a video of what appears to be an assault with a vehicle.

Chris Blakely is the driver of the moped.

He said he pulled over on the side of Highway 109 by Gumtree road to let traffic pass him.

Blakely explained that he turned around and says he saw what looked like a gun in the truck drivers hand.

Blakely got off his moped. That's when he said the truck driver got out of his car.

The man didn't stay out of his truck long, Blakely said, quickly getting back inside and shutting the door.

That's when the man took off, hitting Blakely along the way.

"It happened so fast, I felt it before I seen it," Blakely said.

He said the side of his moped was damaged but still drivable, and he is just sore.

His family is thankful it wasn't much worse.

"Well, I'm hoping that whoever done it, you know, pays for it or gets in trouble. Eye witnesses said that he had a pretty large caliber rifle in his truck. So it could have been 1000 times worse than what it was," said Blakely's daughter, Brittany Blakely.

Troopers and a Davidson County Sheriff's deputy responded to the assault with a vehicle Tuesday.

The search is on for the driver.
