GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for a driver after a high-speed chase in Greensboro.

On Monday around 10:40 a.m., troopers said they were on a routine patrol on East Wendover Avenue near Penry Road when a driver in a black, 2020 Honda Civic passenger vehicle was speeding.

Troopers then activated their emergency equipment, lights, and sirens to attempt to pull over the driver.

The driver failed to stop and troopers chased the driver.

The driver traveled east on East Wendover Avenue towards the intersection of I-840, and when they reached I-840, the driver made a U-turn and drove back west on E. Wendover Avenue, towards Greensboro.

Troopers said the chase lasted around five minutes before they called off the pursuit due to the speed and aggressiveness of the driver would possibly lead to severe injury or harm to the public if the chase continued.

No charges have been filed at this time, but charges are expected once the driver has been identified.
