JAMESTOWN, N.C. — One person is injured after colliding with a train on Oakdale Road in Jamestown around 10 a.m. on Friday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Shirley Riggins Comer, 70, was driving towards a railway crossing when a Norfolk Southern cargo train was traveling towards the crossing.
Troopers said Comer attempted to cross the tracks, despite the warning, and was struck by the train in the crossing.
Comer sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, troopers said.
Comer was charged with unsafe movement, according to troopers.
Oakdale Road near Main Street is currently closed but is expected to reopen later on Friday.
