GREENSBORO, N.C. — There are A LOT of crazy food offerings at baseball stadiums all over the nation. For example, the Winston-Salem Dash is offering a dirt cake with chocolate-covered grasshoppers on it for the six-game stand between the two Triad rivals.
For the Greensboro Grasshoppers, there are some special offerings, but really, the food items are traditional and there's a reason why.
"So we don't like to go too far out of the box. We want to concentrate on quality and speed of service. No one wants to wait in a long line," said Tim Vangel, Grasshopper's General Manager.
Vangle says 85% of the food and beverages sold at the Hoppers stadium is made up of 10 to 12 items and in the top three are...
"It's hot dogs, bottled water, and draft beer," said Vangel.
I mean, really, is there anything more American than a hotdog at a baseball game? And this year, the dogs got an upgrade.
"We'll have Nathan's all beef hot dogs. that is different this year. we want to find the best products that don't break the bank," says Vangel.
It is part of the experience, but the Hoppers know you need a change-up every now and then.
"I think we're going to bring in a spicy chicken sandwich and we'll stick with our curly fries, seasoned, they work well with fans, they like them," said Vangel.
