Three Stokes County schools dismissed early due to power outage

Stokes County Schools officials said they dismissed students Tuesday morning due to a power outage in the area.

STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — Three Stokes County schools have sent students home early due to a power outage in the area, according to the school district. 

North Stokes, Piney Grove and Lawsonville schools were dismissed early Tuesday morning. 

The district sent the following statement to parents: 

 In light of this situation, we have made the decision to dismiss buses at 10:00 am for North Stokes, Piney Grove, and Lawsonville schools. Car riders will begin dismissal at 9:15 am to ensure a smooth and timely departure.

We understand that this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate through this unexpected challenge. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority, and this decision has been made with their best interests in mind.

The cause of the power outage is unknown at this time.
