GREENSBORO, North Carolina — Three guns have been found at three Triad schools this week.
Thursday, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools confirmed a gun was found a Philo-Hill Magnet Academy and the school was briefly placed on lockdown.
We've also learned two other handguns were found at two Guilford County Schools this week.
Ron Glenn, Public Information Officer with the Greensboro Police Department, says one of the guns was found Tuesday at Western Guilford High School shortly before dismissal at 3 p.m.
Glenn says a staff member was notified about a student having a gun and alerted the School Resource Officer. The student has been charged with possession of a weapon and going armed to the terror of the public.
The second incident happened Wednesday morning at Northeast Guilford High School. The Guilford County Sheriff's Office says the School Resource Officer found a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol on a student after getting an anonymous tip. They say no one was threatened or hurt.
The sheriff's office says the student was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm on educational property. He was served with a secure custody order and placed in the custody of the juvenile detention center.
