GREENSBORO, N.C. — One company headquartered in Greensboro has donated $1 million to support the ongoing recovery of western North Carolina communities from Helene.

The Carroll Companies alongside The Caroll Family Foundation said in a statement Sunday they have donated several truckloads of supplies to the Asheville area, where the company has apartments and BeeSafe locations.

Roy Carroll said the city of Asheville remains a top concern to him and his wife.

“This has been a tough week for a lot of people in western North Carolina. My wife and I have not been able to rest much this week out of concern for all the people dealing with Helene’s aftermath," Carroll said. "We have approximately 1,500 residents in the Asheville area that have had to deal with no electricity, no communications, and no water. While power has thankfully been restored to our properties, water is still a major concern."

Carroll said his company sent 17,000 bottles of water to residents in Asheville and engineers are exploring other alternatives to help people get access to water.

In addition to Asheville, The Caroll Companies sent generators, water, and Starlink systems to Boone last weekend.

"Western North Carolina not only has our prayers, but also our full financial support.” Carroll said. “We will do everything we can to help our neighbors in need. We hope this will inspire others to do what they can as well.”

The Caroll Companies specializes in land development, construction, ownership, and real estate management and was founded in 1983.
