Teens Sentenced For Death Of Chris Paul's Grandfather

Three teenagers have been sentenced for the death of Chris Paul's grandfather.

Winston-Salem, NC -- Three teenagers have been sentenced to more than 14 years in prison for their roles in the beating death of the grandfather of Wake Forest University basketball star Chris Paul.A jury on Friday convicted Dorrell Queshawn Brayboy, 17; Christopher Levon Bryant, 18; and Jermal Matthew Tolliver, 17; of second-degree murder and common-law robbery in the death of Nathaniel Jones. They were sentenced to a minimum of 14 years and two months in prison.Five people have been convicted in connection with Jones' death. In August, brothers Nathaniel Cauthen and Rayshawn Banner were sentenced to life in prison on a first-degree murder conviction.Jones, 61, was found dead in November 2002 in the carport of his Winston-Salem home. He had been bound, gagged, beaten and left to die from a heart arrhythmia caused by the stress of the attack. Prosecutors had argued that the attack was part of a plan to rob Jones, a longtime service-station owner.Paul scored 61 points in a basketball game for West Forsyth High School five days later, intentionally missing a free throw to honor his grandfather's age with his point total. The point guard, a first-team Associated Press all-American this season as a sophomore, has announced he is skipping his last two years at Wake Forest to enter the NBA draft.
