GRAHAM, NC -- Usually it's students riding the school bus, but on Monday, it was the teachers' turn at one Triad school!
Monday was a teacher workday in Alamance County, but instead of grading papers, he teachers at Graham Middle School hopped on the school bus to spread some holiday cheer in their community!
The teachers went door to door -- handing out gift bags which were decorated by the students!
They delivered over 500 dollars worth of gift cards from businesses all over the area.
Even if the neighbors don't have kids in school, they still rang the bell and gave them a gift bag.
Seventh grade English teacher David Holt says it feels good to get out of the classroom and make a difference in the community.
"It's just a little thing we can do to brighten someone's day, ya know," said Holt. "When you see people that may not have as much, the little extra things really help."
Teachers say the best part about it is they get to see where some of their students live!
Bettina Holston says it's important to learn more about her students in order to help them connect better in the classroom!
"Because we're out here, we get to see where they're coming from and we get to understand something we may not have understood before if we hadn't come out to do something like this," said Holston.
The giving doesn't stop there.
Volunteers are wrapping gifts at the school.
On Tuesday, Graham Police Officers will hand them out to families in need.
