All Guilford County Schools with the exception of three schools will return to class on Wednesday following the devastation of an EF-2 tornado.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- All Guilford County Schools with the exception of three schools will return to class on Wednesday following the devastation of an EF-2 tornado.

The three schools that will not return to class on Wednesday, April 18 include: Hampton Elementary, Erwin Montessori Elementary, and Peeler Elementary.

On Tuesday, teachers and staff with the school district canvased neighborhoods without power to inform parents and teachers of the district’s decision.

Teachers boarded buses at Mount Zion Baptist Church to inform neighborhoods on Alamance Church Road and also other neighborhoods impacted by the outages.

Students have missed two days of school following the EF-2 tornado that hit part of the Greensboro community on Sunday.

During an emergency school board meeting on Monday, Guilford County Schools announced plans for relocating students and staff at schools affected by the tornado.
