Suspected Porch Pirate Alert: Greensboro Homeowner Catches Man on Surveillance Cam

Greensboro Homeowner Zac Engle posted surveillance video on his Facebook page, capturing the moments he says a man ran up to his front porch and snatched his package.

'Tis the season for porch pirates? It's definitely not something that brings holiday cheer but more like holiday anger.

Greensboro Homeowner Zac Engle posted surveillance video on his Facebook page, capturing the moments he says a man ran up to his front porch and snatched his package. Neighbors in the area chimed in, saying they've seen the man as well.

Zac Engle posted a video to his timeline.

Zac also posted the video on the NextDoor app. Neighbors in the area had also seen the green Nissan Xterra, one even took a picture of his license plate. That information was passed along to police.

Engle filed a formal police report.

WFMY News 2 contacted Greensboro Police to see if there are statistics on porch theft, especially around the holidays.

GPD didn't have specific numbers, because porch theft registers in their system as larceny. But the department did say that porch theft tends to be 'cyclical,' meaning more porch theft happens around certain times of the year when there are more deliveries.

Engle encouraged his followers to share his post so the thief can be caught.

"If anyone is bored today be on the lookout for some package thieves...probably eating lunch in Greensboro so let’s make him famous! Driving a dark green Xterra."
