GREENSBORO, N.C. -- With exams right around the corner, students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro are bringing gifts to a campus statue for good luck.
Minerva, who is associated with wisdom, is a longtime symbol of UNCG. The tradition of leaving offerings such as a coin, a note, or an apple goes back to at least 2007, when the first offering, a coin, was documented.
How this tradition started is unknown, but officials say students have made the traditions their own.
