WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Stanley Furniture Industries Inc. says it's ending domestic production of its Young America line by the end of April.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports the company, which recently moved to High Point, says about 400 employees will be affected by the closing of its Robbinsville plant.
Young America represented about 40 percent of Stanley's sales in fiscal 2013, or $38.8 million. That was up from 38 percent in 2012.
The plant closing reduces its domestic workforce by 81 percent, or 95 employees. Stanley has kept assembly, finishing and warehousing operations in its former hometown of Stanleytown, Va., and in Martinsville, Va.
President and chief executive Glenn Prillaman said company officials concluded that the Young America business could not achieve acceptable revenue within an adequate time frame to assure sustainable profitability.
