HIGH POINT, NC (WFMY) - People in High Point hoping to eventually see a plow, probably wont.
During the update on conditions in the city, historically, it hasn't plowed residential streets because of limited manpower, equipment and resources. The city cites 4 priority areas it works to clear after a snowstorm.
In an email, High Point says "The level of manpower and equipment on hand is designed to focus on the Priority 1, 2 and 3 streets. Thankfully, High Point does not often experience the snowfall that Winter Storm Diego has brought us, so we are not faced with this challenge on a frequent basis."
Priority 1 streets include those around the hospital, downtown business district and Eastchester/Westchester. Priority 2 streets are bolstered by traffic from neighborhoods like Brentwood, Skeet Club and Ward. Priority 3 (Deep River, Old Mill, Springfield and Prospect) and Priority 4 areas (Washington, Leonard, Model Farm, Ingleside and Hickswood) are also on the docket.
The city says they're working on clearing Priority 1, 2, 3 and 4 routes and intersections during the day. The public services department is continuing 24-hour operations this week.
The storm dropped around 11 inches of snow in High Point.
Also in High Point heavy snow caused an awning to collapse at Florence Elementary School.
