WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) - A Wake Forest family was greeted by a big snake crawling up their front door on Friday morning.
Shawn Gordon was about to walk out the front door with his dog when he spotted the long snake at their Cedar Falls home.
From inside, Gordon grabbed video of the snake as it moved its head around and could be seen through a small window beside the door.
"I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and it was a good thing I was going to let Caleb (the family dog) out this morning -- and not the wife," Gordon said in a later video recorded outside.
As Gordon streamed a Facebook live video of the encounter, the snake finally came down from the door.
Gordon showed video of a bird's nest that was built above the front porch light -- and said the snake was likely headed to try to eat the four eggs in the nest.
"The mama bird is probably freaking out somewhere in the trees," Gordon said as the snake slithered down the door.
He said that his family left bird seed out for the mother bird, which possibly attracted the snake.
Gordon said his family has run into the same snake before. The snake was stuck in grass sod netting and Gordon cut him free in the past.
"He (is) pretty aggressive but we like the entertainment value in it," Gordon said.
