PREVIOUS STORY:
NC State Highway Patrol and other responding agencies were on the scene of a plane crash at around 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at the Davidson County Executive Airport in Lexington.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, the plane never took flight.
The plane jumped the wheel stops in the hanger, crossed over two access roads and flipped over onto its top.
The pilot, 84-year-old Ralph Potter, came away from the crash with minor injuries, troopers said.
Emergency personnel were on the scene until crews placed the plane upright, according to troopers.
Our photographer on the scene saw first responders and a fire truck surrounding a small airplane that was upside down between 2 hangars near the runway. It appeared the airplane was missing one of its front wheels.
