Silber Bells Tour reveals donation totals from each stop; Asheboro takes the top spot.

This year's tour collected $6,139.81 for the local chapters of the Salvation Army.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's been four years since the Silber Bells Tour took over the Triad, but it finally returned!

He visited eight cities over five days to raise money for local chapters of the Salvation Army.

Silber came up with the idea years ago as a way to help people in need and meet more of his neighbors. "Meeting our viewers is one of the best parts of my job," Silber said. "And if I can help struggling families at the same time, there’s no better reason to do it."

The Silber Bells Tour started in 2016 as a way to raise money for the Greensboro chapter of the Salvation Army. That December, Silber spent 17 hours ringing the bell outside Belk at the Friendly Center. Over the years, it grew to five cities over five days. By year three, in 2019, Silber had expanded his ringing efforts to 40 hours spanning nine Piedmont Triad cities.

The COVID-19 pandemic started just three months later. Silber and WFMY management made the difficult decision to put the Tour on hold for the next three years as the pandemic continued to impact our world.
